original solana thesis of owning the chain + distribution layer through exchange was so insanely accurate two failed attempts with serum and then ftx third attempt now with backpack which is doing lot of heavy lifting on tokenized equities side robinhood working backwards on the same thesis, owns distribution + exchange now working on the onchain + culture aspect hyperliquid + kraken an unexpected entrant into this game coinbase + base also trying a similar thing combination of both things when executed properly is very strong, multi-trillion dollar outcome for the winner(s) and all of these players need the attention of retail, which is heavily skewed towards the most popular traders

the meta of this cycle is memefi, memecoins have completely captured the zeitgeist of retail’s obsession with trading, their low mcap starting points are incomparable for those searching for 1000xs & memes are relatable to anyone, on top of this you add speculative money games which creatively add demand sinks for the token, which will then attract institutional capital to bid these things because they’ll become more durable, pump is currently the best example of this bc it very directly represents the degenerate trading culture of on-chain but it also is a very successful business making 2M/day currently, in 2020/21 we had a lot of DeFi experiments which were pvp games with cool mechanism design that traders loved to participate in & could make money on like the high apr yield farms & other games like ohm, in 2023/24 we did not have as many of these DeFi games but memecoins went absolutely parabolic, in 2026 we will combine both of these things in a way that makes the coins attractive to both retail and institutional capital alike, it is also what I plan on doing with Ansem / The Black Bull
