@notwashed bitmex & perps saved bitcoin from going to $0 in 2020, also without them trading volumes would be infinitely smaller and likely way less retail interest in general, perps are crypto's most successful product to date imo

@TheStalwart definitely agree with most of these esp the ai risk for tech talent & hardware, but there's definitely still a ton of ppl online on crypto twitter, bitcoin & ethereum are pretty fragmented but hyperliquid & solana are likely the most close knit communities atm

after metals parabolic blowoff top & crypto continued weakness i dont really see much reason to bid bitcoin feels like we went through the full rotation of deploying into risk assets & likely that ppl tp'ing into cash as far as what rhino said about future of space being bleak, hyperliquid is a shining example of the advantages of businesses built on blockchain rails with token as core part of the business i also am unsure of what the exact future mechanisms will be that prove crypto's usefulness but seems unrealistic to me that in a fully digital future where stablecoins are objectively better forms of payment that there aren't more generationally successful blockchain-native businesses crypto is really good at global coordination games, monetizing compute resources, and incentivizing speculation i have some ideas but not many ways to bet directly on them atm
