I remember buying a chunky position in $GPRO on the thesis that everyone in the Ukraine war (both sides) would want GoPro videos of them storming trench lines, so they could show their buddies back home. Was one of my top “Ukraine War Trades.”In retrospect , that was a terrible thesis🤣🤣, fortunately we didn’t lose much as the balance sheet protected us for a bit… Live and learn…🤣🤣

You miss my point. Tech has created many billionaires, so has jr mining. Both are capital destructive. Yet people fund them bc there are always moonshot wins each cycle and investors like to gamble. Ignore the MTM on individual stocks as we are closer to the top of tech valuations than the bottom of the cycle (we’re mid-cycle in jr mining). Look at the actual retained earnings. There are a few dozen large and notable winners, but many others are just stock promotes that will fade away. Even the winners of today like $UBER still don’t have retained profits since inception, with lots of dilution along the way. The winners also don’t really return much net capital as they always have to reinvest and offset SBC dilution. It’s just a tough sector. Gun to my head, I’d say it’s a lot like jr mining, but many times larger and more acceptable for investors, as tech has better branding, and many more visible winners, but that’s mainly bc the sector is many times larger…
